Hatha Yoga Weekly Community  Classes

For all levels from beginner to advanced

What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha Yoga is a practice of purification.

This traditional two hour yoga asana class is how yogis had practiced for millenia, until the pace of the modern world created movement from what was a practice based on stillness.

Each pose is held for an extended period of time with a deep emphasis on the breath. This naturally forces both the body and the mind to move toward an internal focus. This internal focus naturally creates a sense of calm and peace. These are some of the initial benefits of asana (posture) practice.

The class will alternate each pose with a rest in Savasana (the corpse pose), as a way to recover from the intensity of holding the previous posture.

After an hour and a half of poses, the class will shift to 10 to 15 minutes of pranayama (breath control practice), and then conclude with a 15 minute meditation.

*From beginners to advanced practitioners. All are welcome.
*Please wear loose comfortable clothing.
*Please do not eat or drink  2 hours prior to the class.
